I'm watching ET (Entertainment Tonight) right now and thinking there is seriously something wrong with society today. I would estimate they change news stories every 10-20 seconds, never giving the full story and spending half of their time showing/saying "what's next" or "coming up." If they would just tell the full story without all this fluff about what's next, I'm sure they could get the same messages across in 10 minutes vs. 30, including commercials. Do we really have that short of attention span that "news" (and I use this term loosely) stations have to result to cheap tactics like changing the story often enough to cause a seizure and continuously trying to keep viewers engaged by promising the next tidbit of juicy gossip?
Ah! I can't stand it... I'm changing the channel!

I'm weird
I was tagged by The Lenexicon to write seven weird things about myself, similar to Six Random Things, posted in July. Even though people are always telling me "I'm weird," it's still hard coming up with seven things!
1. I make noises when I work... were talking loud, crazy, animal noises. If I'm in a good mood, the clamor is louder and more obnoxious. If I'm not making any noise, well, you've been warned.
2. I have major anxiety when driving and parking... when I'm going somewhere new I need to have at least one, if not two, maps printed with directions. Parking is whole other issue.
3. The labels on all of the products in my shower have to face forward or at a slight angle toward the center... only slightly OCD.
4. I love Spaghetti-O's. I wish I had some right now. Yum.
5. I hate puppies. There I said it. I have no heart. I just never learned to love the squirmy, yippy, energetic things that jump all over and sniff inappropriate places. I don't understand why everyone can't be cat-lovers.
6. I memorize Pantone (PMS) numbers and can pretty much hold a color convo by number. For example: my favorite colors right now are 159 and 629. I think my mother should paint her kitchen close to 7492 or really I would love something like 384, but I know she's not ready for that...
7. My favorite number is 7, which I think is a fairly popular favorite number. I think the numbers 3 and 4 are ugly and unappealing, although typographically they can be beautiful.
Here are the rules:
Rule #1: Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
Rule #2: Share seven random or weird facts about yourself.
Rule #3: Tag seven people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
Rule #4: Let each person know that she’s been tagged by leaving a comment on her blog.

Things I learned...
...this weekend on my roadtrip to Cedar Rapids, Iowa:
1. I live in a lot of light pollution. On the dark country roads I could see the stars more clearly than I've seen in a long time. It makes me miss the country.
2. Deal's Orchard may be the best aromatic store I've ever been to.
3. Cedar Rapids is still recovering from this summer's floods, which wiped out most of the downtown, cultural district. I can't believe the amount of damage that was done to all the business' in town, such a sad story.
4. The MGM lion was a pet to one of the owners at Brucemore, a mansion in CR.
5. Standing in line for Scary Acres for over an hour in the cold with a horde of teenagers is overrated.
6. The world's largest frying pan is in Brandon, Iowa (actually now it's the second largest), and can handle 44 dozen eggs at one time. Brandon also is home to Phat Alberts bar and creepy, old men.
7. Fall is definitely my favorite season, it has the best colors!

Leanne won!
Ok, so it's been a long time, a REALLY long time.... but I just checked and my readership hasn't gone down, but maybe increase slightly... how can that be? Maybe I should take a hint and stop posting so much... I've been keeping busy being a social butterfly, exploring KC and starting new projects at work. Including:
Photos from Leanimal website
- "Adult" Milkshakes at Blanc Burger in Westport, I recommend the Jamaican 10 Milkshake or Spicy Chocolate, easy on the spice
- Bowling at Lucky Strike at P&L
- My first ever "Tarpin' Party," which is an entry all by itself... I'm waiting for pictures...
- Buying a new HDTV
- and many other great get-togethers with friends
I just wanted to say I am super excited Leanne won Project Runway, she's been my favorite from the beginning. If I had the figure/money/lifestyle to wear couture clothes, she would be at the top of my life, I love the architectural details. Check out her website, Leanimal. I loved her wave collection at Bryant Park and lots of pieces in her past collections as well, look at the great colors! Who says she doesn't know how to use color!
