ATC Sneak Peek: Gardening

At 11:00 today is our next ATC trade at work, the theme is gardening. So I made these little seed packets with handmade potato stamps. It was kind of tricky carving images out of potatoes, at one point I got frustrated and ate the rest of my supplies (in the form of delicious steak fries). But I'm quite pleased with how they turned out and can't wait to see what others did with gardening!

January ATC Sneak Peek: My Favorites

The theme for this month's ATC trade is "My Favorites." I painted aqua Ball jars on one of my favorite white papers, sewed (a favorite hobby) ribbon on top of the jar, and glued on some buttons (that I keep in an aqua Ball jar) to make my favorite color palettes. I can't wait to see other's favorites!

atc: Safari/Circus

This month's trade had three themes: Magic, Safari, & Circus... I went the Safari/Circus route and hand-cut silhouettes of animals on reversible black and leopard print paper. I was inspired by Precious Moments figurines that I had as a child, the packaging they came in was reminiscent of a circus train. Now that I think about it, it's a little sad to see the animals in their train cars... hmmm, I don't know how I feel about that...

ATC: Winter Wonderland

I recently volunteered to co-lead the ATC group at Hallmark, so I've had ATC on the brain lately. Trying to think of new theme ideas and how to publicize the events to get more participants. As I've been working on the project, I've uncovered some older cards that I never posted here.
With it warming up outside (and finally starting to feel like summer), I thought it was appropriate to post one of my favorites themes, Winter Wonderland, for a cool break from the heat! I love the cool winter blues and whites and drew from that as my color inspiration. I contrasted the cool blue with warm and fuzzy felt, where I cut out silhouettes of some fun winter characters and objects.
Look for more ATC cards to come!

ATC: Summer

Wednesday we traded ATC (artist trading cards) for the Hallmark trade, the theme was "summer." After thinking of several concepts, I finally landed on a county fair theme, specifically focusing on bucket calves. I had bucket calves when I was younger and I am missing them this year more than ever. I named each one of the calves on my cards after my own calves. I had really original names: Daisy, Susie, Betsy, Clover 1, Clover 2, Red, and Met Life (our insurance calf).
I used a combination of computer illustration and hand-drawing for these cards, some being more abstract than others.

sneak peek: "red" atc trade

I just finished my ATC (artist trading cards) for the Hallmark trade this month, the theme was "red." I decided to go with one of my favorite flowers... red poppies. I bought a recycled poppy tutorial on etsy.com to learn how to make these little lovelies. The tutorial is so simple, yet yields stunning results!
I can't to see what others bring for the trade!
